Baby Knox is 1!

I call him Baby Knox, but he is not a baby anymore. Knox, his adorable brothers and family are one of my FAVORITE families to work with. I could spend all day with these boys.

Time really does fly. It was yesterday when I was taking photos of Knox is mom's belly. Now, he is learning the ropes to joining his big brothers in action!

Some favorites from Knox's 1 year session in Columbus.

Some brotherly love.

And because mom and dad never get photographed anymore with 3 rambunctious boys running around, I managed to capture this.

Elizabeth, 4 years old

One of Elizabeth's favorite Show & Tell items is her very own digital camera. Her mom described her camera: "I want to be just like Mr. Joey and Miss Alice." Awe. (Joey is our friend who is also a photographer). Elizabeth's family is one of my favorite families. Kyu and Elizabeth's dad share a love of dogs, camping trips and Cuban food. Elizabeth, Elizabeth's mom and I share a love of photographs. Our families have been friends for quite a while, so when Elizabeth's family called me for an updated folios book, I was so excited.

Elizabeth, 2006:

One of Elizabeth's Show & Tell.

And now, 2008 with dad. I love how we were able to capture Elizabeth & Dad's love for playing at such an early age.

The face behind Mr. Twinkletoes

I remember vividly when my friend Eddie told me what he wanted to do with his life. We were 20 years old, at Kinkos at 2 in the morning, and he was helping me finish a project-all-nighter that I had been slaving at for weeks. He looked me in the eyes and said, "I think I'd be pretty good at teaching people how to dance. I want to take a stab at that when I graduate." I was in shock, in awe. He was getting a computer science degree and wanted to be a dance instructor? He took my hands, surrounded by photo copiers at all, and showed me the moves behind the fox trot. His suaveness made me drift, and right then, I knew that he would make it...

Years later, Eddie taught me and Kyu our first dance at our wedding, a moment I will never forget. Couples line his booked calendar now for dance lessons, and he is busier than ever pursuing his MBA at Georgia Tech while building Mr. Twinkletoes.

Last week, I photographed Eddie and his sweet girlfriend June dancing in some pretty cool locations around Atlanta. Hopefully, these are some he can use for his promotions. Or maybe just to keepsake. Either way, I wanted Eddie to know how proud I was of him and his dedication to chase his dream. I know whatever he does in life, he'll do with grace and style...because he'll always be dancing.

Mr. Twinkletoes himself.

And some select favorites from the shoot.

Thanks Eddie & June! Can't wait to take some more soon!

Ali

What a beautiful name (short for Alexandra). I have been friends with Ali's mom for years, so when she called me to photograph her little girl, I was thrilled! Ali was every bit as beautiful as I knew she'd be.

I love this series with mom. See where Ali gets her good looks?

And dad is not so bad looking too!

And lastly, my favorites. Ali has the most captivating eyes.

Thanks Lesley & Trey! It was SUCH a joy to photograph your gorgeous family!

Workaholism or Passion?

I read this on a friend's blog and I couldn't agree more, especially during my current, sleepless nights:

When I sit back in my chair and think what's really at the root of my "workaholism," it's not the holiday deadlines or "fear" that drives me to finish every last image. I really think what I do is amazing. Fun. SO cool. I feel the urge to "work" on my photography just as a kid does with his new toy. I don't think I could ever stop what I do. When that time comes for me to bring Alice #2 or Kyu #2 into this world, I'm sure they will happily tag along with me to my sessions. For no reason other than a happy family comes from a happy mother. =)

And no, I am NOT expecting Alice #2 or Kyu #2 anytime soon...in case you're wondering!

Just one from Kiawah

As I stare at the piles and piles of work in front of me, I wanted to share just one from the beautiful coastal beach. I absolutely adore this little girl and her family. Blown out or not, I love this series between mom and Miss Kate, who insists my name is Melissa (her mother's best friend)!

The wedding this weekend between Chaffee & David was absolutely breathtaking in every possible way. Out of respect for the wonderful hosts, I won't post any images. But mark my word. Just BREATHTAKING.

Off to Kiawah

Just a reminder to all clients that we will be out of the office until Monday, October 20th. All emails, voice mails and inquiries will be answered when we return.

We are so excited to shoot a few favorite families on the beautiful Kiawah beaches and attend the much-anticipated wedding of Chaffee & David. More images to come!

The beautiful bride & groom-to-be. Wouldn't they make GORGEOUS babies?!

Give me 10 minutes...

...and I'll give you the perfect family photo!

We hosted our first Family Day of 2008 this past Saturday, and although I'm recovering from losing my voice, I had a BLAST and really felt like the time flew by!

Here are some favorites from our first round:

Can't wait for Round 2 in a couple of weeks!

Not so little anymore.

One of the greatest joys of my job is watching my child-clients grow. Despite the rain yesterday morning, I met up with Logan & Summer's family to capture some updated shots at a local park. I'm looking back to when I first began documenting these both and am amazed at how much they've grown.

Summer at 9 months and now at 15 months. 2 of my favorite ages to photograph.

Logan at 2 years old, and now nearly 3.

I always encourage my parents to capture as much of these wonderful ages as possible. After all, when will chubby cheeks and intense stares be quite this beautiful?

Happy Birthday to my hubby....

I'm taking the rest of the day off today to spend time with my man. He's also my business partner, so it was important that I got his permission! ...which he granted, isn't he sweet?

After a year of "bliss" - living and working together 24/7, I thought this year for his birthday, I'd give him a little break from me to spend the weekend in the woods with his 15 guy friends. I rented this gorgeous lodge in Blue Ridge Mountains for him, so when he comes back, he will love me even more. Although, I don't know how he could love me even more. =P

Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Summit

Anyone who knows me knows how important the Coca-Cola Company has been in my life. Being connected with this amazing Coca-Cola family has given me opportunities to dream big and ignite my desire to do whatever I want in life.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to speak at our 20th year Leadership Summit about following my passions of being a Photographer. What an exhilarating experience that was! The weekend was full of inspiring moments - connecting with those in philanthropy, politics & education, giving back to Atlanta through service, and having a REALLY, really good time reuniting with old friends.

On our last evening, I set up a fun, CRAZY photo booth for everyone to participate in. It was a HIT! How fun are these?

Can't wait for our next reunion!

Cooper, Olivia & Lucy!

What a bunch! I'm so excited to be working on their book soon.

Lucy is going to be a charmer, like her momma.

Some favorites on the playground across the street.

And the whole gang!
