Nicole Rebecca | 19 Days Old

On Saturday, I photographed the very tiny, and very special 2 lb princess Nicole at Northside Hospital. She arrived at 30 weeks, and since then has achieved many major goals doctors thought would take weeks. She now needs no supplimental feedings, is on little to no oxygen, and recently moved out of NICU. Her dad calls her his "overachiever!" I experienced all of the warmth and love Nicole's entire family shares for this special little girl. All of the prayers from Nicole's loved ones have definitely been heard.

Some of my favorites from my visit to the meet Miss Nicole...

I am looking forward to watching her grow, and do AMAZING things with her life!

Enter to WIN at B.Braitwaite!

My wonderful friend Chaffee of B. Braithwaite is running a sweepstakes on her website, and I am SO delighted to be photographing the winner's family! If you haven't checked out her amazing storefront off Howell Mill, do stop by her website for some baby goodness and inspiration.

Mr. Bennett | 4 months old

I have been looking forward to shooting Mr. Bennett since he was in his mommy's tummy at 7 months. When clients schedule so far in advance, it's hard to determine what will play out. Saturday turned out to be the perfect day for our session. Quite possibly the most perfect day of this season!

Lots of favorites of Bennett at 4 months. Although the weather was AMAZING outdoors, my favorites were inside.

Hoping our 8 month session in July gives us nice weather too (haha)!

Attention All Child Photographers!

Coming soon to a web browser near you:

After years of working as a child photographer – going to trade shows, participating in online forums and working in the industry – I noticed a lack of resources truly focused on our craft. I noted what we lacked, what could be extremely beneficial to those starting out, and what seasoned photographers needed to enhance their portfolios. My husband Kyu and I began brainstorming ideas, and the concept of an association – a group of fun people collectively learning, networking, and growing – seemed like the perfect way to fill the void.

NAPCP is a web-based association designed to provide the most comprehensive resources for its members, bringing together a community of passionate artists committed to growth in their skills, their craft, and their businesses. To accomplish this, we're providing these features for our members:

Membership Directory – Organized geographically to assist parents looking for a professional child photographer in their area
Forum – Ideal place to exchange ideas, monitored and administered for maximum member benefit
Image Competition – Exclusively for child photographers, standards will be high and judged by the industry's best photographers.
Workshops – Comprehensive listing of workshops and training opportunities
Vendors – Listing of the industry's top vendors
News – Blog-like format designed to keep members up to date and notified of our ever-changing industry

********************************************************************************************************************

What: The National Association of Professional Child Photographers
When: Official launch Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:00 am EST.
Where: www.napcp.com

Kyu and I are EXTREMELY excited about what NAPCP can bring to a community of like-minded, passionate artists. Be sure to join us for our official launch this Monday!!

Brothers

I photographed brothers Sandro, Diego and Oscar at the most ideal ages last weekend - 5, 3 and 8 months old. We enjoyed the day sporting super hero costumes, reading books, and eating ice cream during the first days of warm weather. It was just perfect.

Client FAQ - Scheduling

"What time do you typically schedule your sessions, Alice?"
Whenever it is best for your child!

Choosing a time for me to come and photograph your child is extremely important. We should generally stay clear away from nap time (see adorable images of Ava below) and eating times (although there is always time during our session for breaks). I am extremely flexible when it comes to scheduling, as there is nothing more I dislike than making your child smile when he/she is tired!

Ava was actually SUCH a trooper for me. These images are deceiving, because she was blissfully happy and all smiles until literally the last 10 seconds of our shoot :) I just think these are so cute!

Note: Our server is JUST about up to speed! Our client galleries are still down, but I'm back to my normal blogging schedule so stay tuned!

Update

Ok, so there were a few more hiccups in the migration than expected. :)

Note to current clients & those who've emailed me in the last 48 hours: If you haven't received a reply from me, I probably did not receive your email. All online galleries are....not there. They should be up *hopefully* by Tuesday of next week.

Thank you for your patience & understanding!

Daily Inspiration

As with any artist, constantly trying to come up with creative images is often challenging yet at the heart of what we do. The creative process involves a lot of observing, talking with new people, and surrounding yourself with things that inspire you. I'm constantly putting together design boards from things that I love. Here is one that I created very early on in my career. I actually lost the original file, but I've recreated it based on what I could remember:

I will try to post more of my inspiration boards in the coming weeks, as well as showcasing some of my favorite articles I read, sites I visit, and magazines I tear pages from. Until then, enjoy the above board. Can anyone guess where it all came from?
