Addy, Jack & Company

Absolutely LOVED this family! Addy was everything I love about a 10 month old, and Jack! ....He was quite possibly the sweetest, most well-behaved, and inquisitive 3 year old I've ever met.

The Beautiful Family,

Gorgeous blue eyes and the longest, little lashes! (oxymoron, I know.)

Jack.

...and his animals.

My favorites.

From Dad (and dad does not usually write with this many exclamation points!):

Thank you so much Alice! The slideshow is beautiful! We love it! You did such a great job of capturing Jack and Addy’s pure joy. Jack and Addy had so much fun having their pictures taken – we’ve been anxiously awaiting the results and really appreciate that you were able to get this slideshow put together so quickly (and do such a great job on it in such a short period of time.) We look forward to discussing next steps with you. Thanks again!

Crystal

I rarely read forwards or chain emails. And when I do, I rarely cry.

Today, I received a forward from one of my closest friends, Crystal, who knew that this particular one would touch my heart and really get to that sentimental side of me. This one was about sisters. Everyone who's known me knows that I grew up with 2 very special sisters whom I'm very, very close with. Over the many years that I've known Crystal...through all of the boyfriends, the student committee meetings, the project all-nighters, and gossiping about life...I've come to regard her as a sister in my life. I know she's one of those very special people in life, who is talented in so many ways, who I'll hold very dear to me as we grow old.

I love this email she forwarded to me. It speaks worlds of the relationship we have and I just wanted to share. Thank you Crystal, for always being there for me too!

,,,

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

'Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family: all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Lauren | ee mo

Growing up, I used to call Lauren's dad my "Oppa," or older brother. It was surreal hearing Lauren address me as "mo mo" or her pronunciation of "ee mo" (Aunty in Korean). This was the first time I got to hang out with Lauren, so I was so super excited to meet this sweet, bubbly, happy girl.

With mom and dad.

Isn't this 2 year old adorable?

No hesitation when I asked her to jump on her bed.

And everyone loves a bubble bath!

What I learned from a 10 year old

Alice: "See you later, alligator."
Dakota: "After awhile, crocodile."
Alice: "Bye-bye, butterfly."
Dakota: "Give a hug, ladybug."
Alice: "Toodle-ee-oo, kangaroo."
Dakota: "See you soon, raccoon."
Alice: "Time to go, buffalo."
Dakota: "Can't stay, blue jay."
Alice: "Manana, iguana."
Dakota: "The end, my friend!"

Phew! That's a lot to remember, but a must-know according to Dakota.

Hanging out with this tween was SO much fun! Dakota was so enthusiastic about taking photos. We did all the things he loved.

Of course playing his xbox. A classic 10 year old photo. (lots of grain that I love)

The robot! (yes, he showed me how to do it and I'm hooked. Kyu officially thinks I'm a dork.)

Why so serious, Dakota?

One of his best friends (and the amazing woman who hired me!) Emily.

ps - thanks for the referral Susan Stripling!

36 Weeks

I hope I look this gorgeous when I'm 36 weeks along.

Jessica is the owner and director of Core Pilates & Gyrotonic studio in Buckhead. I think she is proof that pilates and their methods of exercise work!
