Lily & Luke!

Despite the 30 degree weather this morning, we braved it out in hopes of capturing Lily and Luke at the very special age of 4 and 2. And I'm so glad we did!

I have so many favorites from this session, and I would seriously post them all. But alas, orders need to processed and books need to be designed....so I will leave you with these.

THE sweetest, little boy! He had me at "Hi A-wice" when I arrived.

And Lily was such an angel, despite all of the outfit changes and hair styles we made her endure. Love these!

I absolutely adore this family. I will need to get pointers from mom on raising SUCH sweet, angelic kids!

We miss you!

To my favorite person in the world. He's stuck in a cabin now in North Georgia with about 15 of his guy friends for the weekend. Yes, poor him.

Meanwhile, Sydney and I are spending some quality time together. I even convinced her to sit for a portrait session with me this afternoon.

Awe.

It's Christmas here at Alice Park Photography Central!

We are receiving packages and shipments daily of our client's Folios books - just in time for Christmas!

Introducing Alice Park Photography's very own line of coffee table books - THE most requested product that we carry!

A dozen books arrived yesterday. We love customizing each cover.

Each page is library bound onto thick acid-free boards and coated with a special lacquer chemical to protect it from spills and scratches.

Perfect for the younger ones!

Gutter in the middle? That was one thing we made sure NOT to have, as we love designing pages with photos down the center.

And lastly, out beautiful boxes that will protect your folio book for many, many years. Complete with white gloves for careful handling :)

We are booked for the remaining year, but be sure to call ahead for 2009. We would love to make a special folio book of your family!

On the other side of the Lens

I absolutely LOVED working with my dear friend and talented photographer Elizabeth and her ADORABLE family last week! I admit I was SUPER nervous photographing a photographer I admired so much, but Elizabeth reasurred me that they were a very laid back family. I would definitely say so....

Kyu was with me at the park that afternoon, and he remembers being startled at the sound of Elizabeth yelling "peek-a-boo!" behind me as I caught the first of the series below. Oh, how I love her for doing that! We photographers sure do know what it takes, no matter how silly it makes us look, to get "the" shot.

And I love the middle image of Elizabeth and her little joys. Eliza is saying, "Mom is number 1!" Thank you all again for ALL of the fun and laughs!

Family Portraits and their Importance

We live in an era where stopping by the store on your 6 pm commute home to buy your morning's caffeine is more of a priority than gathering the family together for a meal, much less a portrait. We're so busy and consumed with everyday life (as we should be!) that documenting it is an after-thought.

Fortunately for me, my clients keep me busy enough to assume that they know the importance of taking professional images of their family life. What is often times forgotten (and make no mistake, I am terribly at fault for this), is including extended family members and grandparents in these precious photos.

I have been photographing Crawford since he was 4 months old. I see him so often that I know all of the things he loves (dogs, daddy, flying in the air) and all of the things he "dis-loves" (luvies, who knew?)....

When Crawford's mom asked me to take a few portraits of Crawford with his extended family, I gave her a huge pat on the back for her good planning and told her my first availability. When we got together for our session, I saw and witnessed the love they all had for this very special boy and knew how important these memories would be for him one day.

When Crawford looks back at these images many years from now, he will be reminded of what an integral part his family (near and far) played in his life. He will pass these heirloom portraits down to the next generation of little Crawfords, and the family memories will come with them.

I encourage everyone to plan your hectic schedules around taking photos. The younger generations will thank you for this, I promise.

Sharing the Love

As soon as I walked in the doors to meet 6 week old, Ford - I was greeted so sweetly by their dog, Shep. I knew instantly that he was important part of the family and wanted to capture as many family photos with their "first baby."

Shep did an amazing job for me, as did Ford! How sweet is this entire family together?

Fine Art Greeting Cards: Trifolds!

Blan commissioned me to put together a very special Christmas card for her and her beloved horse Micah this year. We scheduled our session at Ashland Farm in late September, and I put together a trifold card from some of our best images from our session. The results are stunning! Everyone is going to want to be on her Christmas card list this year!

A view of the card opened:

The front flaps and back of the card:

Left: Blan and her grandfather, Christmas 1958. Right: Blan and her Micah, Christmas 2008.

I absolutely love how unique and personal this card is. Designed very simply with stunning images from our session, a VERY vintage and special photo Blan contributed, and a personalized greeting from Blan to all of her friends & family. Love it!
