Lola, 4 weeks old

Ideally, newborn sessions should be scheduled within the first 14 days of life. However, it's never, ever too late (or too early) to start documenting your littlest one.

Sophia

Sophia was the main reason I flew up to NYC last week. I photographed her in her mommy's belly a couple of months ago, and when dad told me she had arrived, I quickly made plans to come up and see her.

Sophia's dad and I met in the most random way. One day last year, I received a call early in the morning (7 or so....I was still in bed). He was so desperate for help on a photo he was having printed at Wolf that morning. He told me the photo looked grainy... I asked him if he knew anything about photoshop; he, of course said no. He told me that he needed the photo for a funeral he was attending that morning, and the photo would be on display there. Without even asking how he knew me, I told him to email me the photo, and I would help him prepare it for print. He was incredibly appreciative. The photo turned out great. Everyone was happy. And then I forgot about the whole thing....

6 months later, he calls me and tells me his wife follows my blog and wants to schedule a maternity session at the Mansion here in Atlanta. I quickly recounted the way we first connected, and I smiled.

I was so happy to photograph Sophia's first days. Her parents, despite being sleep-deprived and exhausted, are loving every minute with their new daughter....

Baby Harper is Here!

I've been awaiting Harper's arrival for quite some time now. She has the sweet nature and delightful disposition of her parents. I can't wait to watch this little one grow over the course of the year!

Sweet Slumber

Life is good for Miss Nicole, photographed at 3 months (she was an itty bitty preemie).

Speaking of which, I need some good shut eye too! I've been working around the clock lately, average about 3-4 hours a night... Lots of bags around my eyes now..

Sweet Pea

It's never too late to photograph your sweet newborn. Mom called me last minute to get some itty, bitty shots of Ronan at 4 weeks old. He was such a good subject for me :)

To all of the beautiful mothers....

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh

Happy Mother's Day!

Baby Brother Finn

I'm always thrilled to meet the newest addition to the family after documenting the first child. Everything changes when you have a younger sibling. You have to share your attention with someone else... and to many, that's not the greatest feeling in the world. To Aiden, he was just delighted (although a little uncertain at first) to share everything with Finn. Including his parents....

Baby Cecilia - 2 Days Old

I received an email of Cecilia's arrival from the proud dad late Friday evening. After spending an afternoon shooting their family's belly photos, I was so eager to come back and meet the beautiful baby. We scheduled Cecilia's session at 2 days - the earliest I've ever shot a newborn.

At 7 lbs 10 oz, she was a strong girl! Practically turning her head on her own. Some favorites:

A proud moment for me. (sent by Cecilia's momma)
