Sometimes you just know...

...that you're meant to be friends.

Last week, I met with my dearest friends Sara, Whitney and Amy in New York City to celebrate the end of another successful Fall portrait season. We met last year at Learnfest, and since then - we've made an effort to get together at least once a quarter. That's incredibly challenging for 4 women who live on opposite sides of the country, run a full time business and love their families dearly!

Every time we get together, we pass the time with gossip, shopping & photo excursions around around town.

No exception in the big city.... We were in heaven!

Our first stop, of course - the big & beautiful Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center.

One of the main reasons we chose this city.... their flagship store is fabulous.

We took some time to explore the city, walk the streets, and play hopscotch!

Whitney flew cross country to see us, and we love her for that! We all got to see her depart....

...right before we took out our cameras for some fun! ...the beautiful Sara...

We call her Jansport. I wonder why?

And Sara snapped these silly shots of me, which I adore. Yes, Kyu is a lucky, lucky man...

I can't wait to see these lovely ladies again....in about 3 weeks in Nashville! Love you guys!

Out for a little break and some much needed girl time...

After an insane fall portrait season, I'm taking a little break from work and celebrating my 29th birthday (well, preview to it anyhow!) with my favorite girls in New York. I hear December is the best time to visit! Either way, I'm looking for a seeing these ladies, catching up on our gossip, shopping (of course) and taking in all that the city has to offer.

Kyu and I love each other immensely (it's scary!), but we're big fans of separate vacations, making time with our own friends & family, and allowing each other to have their own space every once in a while... I'll come back missing him more than ever (something that's GREAT after spending the last 30 days with him 24/7!).

I'll be out until Thursday, December 10th. Have a wonderful week, everyone!

The work of Tom Camp

Talented, isn't he?

Tom and I bumped into each other in New York while I was photographing one of the families in the buildings he concierges. Isn't that random? He saw me running around with my camera equipment, and when I was leaving, he opened the door for me and asked, "What software do you edit your photos in?" Intrigued, I asked him about his background in photography. He gave me the 2 minute summary, I handed him my card, and we both went in our separate ways.

I received an email from Tom today with some of his recent work, and I was AMAZED!

Confessions of a mildly obsessive New York shopaholic

Nevermind that I spent all of my earnings in New York in one store, within one hour. It was the mother-ship of all Anthropologies. Three floors of vintage-inspired accessories, decor items, and one-of-a-kind wardrobe pieces. Walking distance from my hotel off 5th Avenue. I was in heaven...

While there, I had the opportunity to chat with their executive creative director, Kristin Norris, about how
effective retail shopping environments affect consumer spending. Fascinating! More on that in another blog post!

Rock of Ages, 80s Broadway Hit

Everyone who knows me knows I absolutely love Broadway musicals. I've seen about 20 of them so far all over the world. I've even considered writing a script to submit to Andrew Lloyd Webber, ha!

Rock of Ages made its debut on Broadway in April and has already become a hit sensation! LOVE, love, love 80s rock - and this musical definitely hit the mark with me with song selections from Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Twister Sister, Poison and Asia. I wasn't one of the front row groupies trying to touch a feel to one of the rockers on stage, but I did enjoy watching it with my pal Karen. I think Kyu would have loved it too....

New York

Sorry to all clients for my delay in responding to calls, inquiries, and emails! I returned from a whirlwind trip to New York last night, where I photographed 3 very special babies. I'll be posting more of my ventures once I've tackled at least 50% of my hundreds of unanswered emails....

Until then, I'll leave you with a photo of where I stayed.... why Times Square, of course!
